We emphasize on developing low-cost analytical tools for environmental monitoring. Water and atmospheric pollutants are the environmental problems we currently study. Heavy metals and some toxic anions from those sources impact human health. Portable, low-cost sensors horizon availability of the analysis methods to be used in developing countries and remote area with simplicity.
Microfluidic Paper-Based Analytical Devices (mPADs)
Microfluidic paper-based analytical devices (mPADs) have been developed for lowering sensor costs. We aim at improving mPADs using color-based detection to simply detecting trace metals.
Portable Electrochemical Sensors
Electrochemistry is integrated into low-cost devices in order to improve sensitivity of the detection. Low-cost, portable electrochemical sensors are applied for determining metals at trace level.
Alternative Materials
We explore optional hydrophobic materials to fabricate mPADs. The materials we found can be easily molded at low temperature.
